Visit to Coventry Cathedral and Guildhall

The visit to Coventry on 5 June was both interesting and illuminating. The highlight of the day was the Cathedral and the way in which it was restored using both space and art to remind us, not only of what had happened during the war, but the spirit and determination which led to the restoration.  Support had come from many countries overseas. The guides for both there and the Guildhall were excellent.

At the Guildhall, much of the history was referred to in the wall paintings and textiles. the information about the kitchen and meals was fascinating. In addition their restaurant welcomed us with tea, coffee and scones (jam and cream) and later provided a light lunch.

All in all, an excellent day, and even the weather got better as we got closer to Coventry.
